We went to the beach with my family the second week in June and had a great time! Pace loved playing with all his cousins. We all had a great time at the beach and the pool! Can't wait to do it again!

Here are a few sweet pictures of Lydia and Pace! We are so thrilled to have a new baby. David and I were both very surprised when the dr said you have a "Lydia." Mostly we are so thankful to have another healthy baby. Not sure Pace realizes what all is going on just yet. We will see if he is still doling out the sweet kisses once we get home!

Pace's Big Boy Backpack!

I decided to take the plunge and get Pace a Big boy bag. After losing his wipes container, hand sanitizer and a sippy cup (LABELED WITH HIS NAME) all in one outing to MOPS I decided it was time to have a bag with a zipper on it. I realize that a zipper won't keep the workers from taking things out of his bag, but maybe it will keep Pace from taking everything out. Anyways, I found a great website called Thecrazydazy.com. I ordered his bag on Thursday and received it on Saturday, talk about great turn around!

18 month check up

Had our 18 month check up today. They confirmed that Pace is a big boy with percentiles in the 80's and 90's for his height, weight and head circumference. We are 34 inches tall, weigh just over 28 pounds and of course our head circumference is 20 inches..I'm so shocked! Pace did well at the doctors visit and got to be seen in the safari exam room equipped with a lion exam table. Roar! The most traumatic portion of the visit proved to be having his head measured. For some reason this bothered him the most. I expressed my concern to the doc about Pace's picky eating habits, he felt like he wasn't missing out on too much considering his healthy weight! Big boy is growing up!

Pace's new activity for the week has been opening and closing doors. He is very proud of his accomplishment. While I was cooking dinner Tuesday night he decided to shut himself in the Pantry. He thought it was great fun and decided to do it again tonight!

Monday we headed to the mountains for some snow activities. First we started off in Keystone where David was able to do one run down the mountain on his new skis (used, but new to him). After that we had a quick lunch and headed to Breckinridge where we took Pace sledding. He had the best time and kept on saying "wee wee." We wish his cousins lived closer, because we know they would enjoy it just as much as Pace!

1st Real Haircut

We took Pace to get his first "real" haircut this weekend. Although I did protest a little, in the end I agreed that something had to be done about the wildness. Pace really enjoyed sitting in the yellow car and was going to town on the steering wheel. Overall, I was pleased with a haircut. He still looks like my little baby boy!

Christmas morning at Nana and Poppy's

Christmas morning proved to be a little bit crazy at Nana and Poppy's house this year! All families were present and accounted for...which means in all there were SIX grandbabies. We all had a wonderful time. As you can see the kids loved all their presents and Pace enjoyed a few of Landrum's and Jack's presents too!

Early in December Pace had an unfortunate meeting with the corner of a wooden chair. We ended up with two stitches above our right eye. Pace Handled it like a champ though. I just hope this is not a sign of things to come!

David's parents were so great to come into town for David's promotion. They stayed for five days and they were a huge help! It was so nice to have helping hands to throw David's promotion party. Also, Grandpa made some great bookshelves for Pace's room and for the guest bedroom. We are so thankful for all the work they did while they were here. We did find a little time to have some fun during their visit and drove up to Estes Park for a day trip. We did a short 2 1/2 mile hike and again we had gorgeous weather.

America's Mountain

July 4th weekend we set out with the Rockefellers to conquer Pikes Peak. We packed up our gear and loaded Pace and Gracie into the backpacks and set off on the 13 mile journey that we planned to do over two days. The trail was absolutely beautiful and we had great weather. After about 6 hours (7 miles) we made it to camp where we refilled water and enjoyed a great home cooked meal by the wonderful hosts at Barr Camp. When Saturday morning arrived, however, the Walker clan decided we should go back down the mountain rather than trying for another 6-7 hours of uphill hiking. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our Independence day on America's Mountain. We think next time we try to conquer Pikes Peak and all of is 14.000 feet that we will leave Pace with a babysitter!

Visit from Poppy and Nana

My parents were able to sneak away for a weekend in June and so they decided to use their frequent flyer miles to pay us a visit! Although it was a short visit fun was had by all. We had hopes of driving up Pike's Peak, however, part of the road was closed due to snow and ice. We settled on Garden of the Gods and the Airforce Acadamy instead. Can't wait for them to come again!

Rocky Mountain High

This past weekend we traveled to Estes Park for a little mini vacation. We stayed at a cozy little inn with the friendliest staff. Our room over looked a little river and it was so peaceful. Saturday morning after a hearty breakfast we loaded Pace up in the backpack carrier and headed for higher ground. We hiked for almost 3 hours and enjoyed some amazing views. We would have liked to go further, however, there was still a bit of snow on the trail and it started raining on us. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to more hiking in the Rockies!

Our fourth morning in Denver this is what we woke up to! What a nice surprise coming from hot Mississippi to snow. This has been our only snow since arriving and now that it is June I am fairly certain we won't see snow again until the fall. However, we are certainly enjoying the weather so far. David and I had the opportunity to attend the D.C. area annual JAG Dining Out. Well, I should say I had the opportunity, it was mandatory for David. Nonetheless, we had a great time and it afforded me a chance to get all dressed up and wear a pretty dress.

Cousins

While Pace loves playing with all of his cousins, he really loves having cousin Landrum close by.

In order to eat dinner in peace we decided to put a Baby Einstein video on for babies. We strategically placed them a few feet a part so they would not poke each others eyes out while we were eating. A few minutes into our dinner we looked over to find Landrum right next to Pace. I am pretty sure that Pace was trying to pull Landrums hair out.

Drivers Ed

While some in legislation may be trying to raise to driving age, Pace thinks its never too early to get a driving lesson from Daddy! David and I have done a lot of traveling since Pace was born and Pace is such a trooper... he really is a good traveler. However, sometimes you just have to pull over and get the baby out of his seat and let him play.

Best Friends For Life

GOLIATH has found a new best friend. Goliath, Pace and I have been living with my parents while David is completing his training in Alabama. Every night we put the dogs to bed in the laundry room. Well, as of late Goliath has decided that instead of getting in his bed right a way he will sit with Jonah for a little while. I don't think that Goliath realizes how easily Jonah could squash him. Big dog, little dog, was there ever a better pair?

We started feeding Pace rice cereal in mid December and he took to it quite well. At 5 months we decided to branch out to new things like avocado and sweet potato. As we can see in the photo, Pace is really enjoying his dinner. Those of you without children might wonder "how did he manage to get sweet potato in on his forehead?" And the answer to that query is...he's a boy and its fun to play with food! Although we have been eating solids for a couple of months now, I can say he is still a big mess during meal time.

As many of you know David was commissioned into the United States Air Force in December. Davids dad, a retired Col in the U.S. Army had the opportunity to commission David and Stephen in a joint ceremony in Norfolk, VA. The rest of the Walkers might enjoy teasing us about going Airforce, however, we know we made the right choice!:)

Where did David and Bethany meet?

For the 10 or so people who voted on where David and I met....the majority of you were wrong. Congrats to the two people who said we met at a coffee shop...you were correct. I was out with Bethany Daniel at Fondren Art Mix when we ran into David and some of his buddies from Law School. Bethany and I in an attempt to warm up stepped into Cups to get some coffee. David and his friends were "studying." Needless to say Bethany having already met David was polite at introduced us. So, although David did meet a Bethany at Bible study it was not me.

Pace took his first airplane ride this past week. We went to visit his Grandpa and LuLu in Virginia. Pace was a great traveler and has now been to 11 states. A word to those planning to fly with their small children... even they have to take their shoes off when going through security.

As you can all imagine getting a 4 month old to look at the camera when you are taking a picture is not the easiest thing in the world. Pace is obsessed with his feet and so whenever they are uncovered his eyes and hands gravitate to his toes. Also, who would want to look at the camera when there is a strange creature with antlers sitting next to you. After many takes I think we managed to find a few shots suitable for the Christmas card. Rolling Over

At about 6-7 weeks Pace rolled over about 4 or 5 times. While I am pretty sure that it was the weight of his head that made him roll over I sure was proud! Now that we are three and a half months maybe we will make rolling over a regular thing.

The Stinky Sox

When Jayme and Jared decided they would not be able to use their Red Sox tickets David and I decided we would use them. We figured it was a good opportunity for Pace to see his Texas cousins and it was a great opportunity for me to finally go to a MLB game! And who better to see than the Red Sox! I do wish, however, that the Red Sox had shown up for the game. When we left in the 7th inning they were trailing 14-4. Also, I was disappointed because none of the palyers I know/like played. To top off the whole evening Pace decided to have a major blowout while I was holding him. Thankfully my oldest sister immediately whipped into mom mode and got the situation under control. Also, I was thankful that David packed an extra t-shirt in the backpack, otherwise I would have been wearing a poop shirt the rest of the night! Oh and Rylie, my 5 year old neice is the one who so affectionately refers to the Red Sox as the Stinky Sox!

Aunt Jay Jay, Uncle Jared and cousing Landrum came to visit baby boy in the hosptial. And a few weeks later Aunt Erin, Uncle Luke and cousins Rylie and Jack came from Texas to visit. Pace loved meeting all of his family!

The Arrival

As many of you already know David and I welcomed little Pace ino the world on August 1st... So that means I have some catching up to do on this blog! Anticipating a very large baby the Doctor and I scheduled a c-section for the morning of the 1st. All went well and when Pace arrived he weighed 9 lbs and 2 oz.
